The Historic Town of York Western Australia (With stop over at John Forrest National Park & Lake Leschenaultia)

Christmas 2013 and New Year 2014 is the first time that we are celebrating it away from our little boy Jaron. To keep our minds preoccupied and make  our holiday vacation busy and enjoyable amidst being away from our loved ones we decided to explore the beauty of Australia and went to places we've never been to. We headed to York Western Australia (named after the city of York in England) with a little bit of side trip along the way.

1st Stop: John Forrest National Park viewing deck
The deck is located at the middle of the forest through road and is overviewing the picturesque and beautiful City Of Perth.

The tallest tiny little buildings you see is where the Perth City is.

2nd Stop: Lake Leschenaultia
I really had a hard time pronouncing and remembering this lake's name. It sounds like "leche nuttella". Easier to remember. Hahaha!. The parking area is quite full when we arrived. December is a summer season here in Perth so all picnic tables were already occupied as expected.

3rd Stop: York Olive Oil Co.
From the name itself, the company is an extraction plant for olive oil. Aside from the olive oil extraction, ice cream is also being made within the premises.

To satiate our craving for freezing food and to ease the summer heat, we indulged ourselves with different ice cream flavors they market. The ice creams are made from natural ingredients they say. And the liquorice-flavored ice cream has won an award in the 2013 Perth Royal Show.

Surrounding the olive oil extraction plant is the olives plantation.

My first time to see Olive trees!

Leaves of olive trees up-close.

4th Stop: Heritage Buildings of York
This place reminds me of the rich old heritage of Vigan Ilocos Norte in the Philippines. The buildings were finely architectured. The York Motor Museum is home for vintage cars. Unfortunately, we were not able to view the car collections as the museum closes at 2 pm.

5th Stop: St. Patrick's Catholic Church in York
There is a belief that if you make a wish when it's your first time to visit a Church it will come true. I just made wishes! And I claim that they will be granted sooooon! God is good all the time!

6th Stop: Suspension bridge in York crossing Avon River
The suspension bridge wobbles as you walk through it which gives more excitement and fun. I did it! I was able to walk across it!There is a car park at both ends of the bridge and the kid's playground, picnic tables, toilets and barbeques nearby make it perfect for family getaways.

Do I look fearful? or Audacious?

7th Stop: Mount Brown Lookout
When we were at the top of Mount Brown I was astonished with the magnificent, breathtaking scenery plus the relaxing breeze of cold air brushing through my system. The place is so perfect as picnic site for green-scenery-lovers like me. The parking area is just few steps below the viewing deck.
I'm on top of the world!

The sky is so blue!

This is the fantastic view when you are looking down from the top of Mount Brown.

Looking forward for another fun experience with my travel buddies.

  1. With no luck in finding Queen's Park, we have decided a road trip to York. Turned-out more exciting and fun when you have no itinerary, just follow where the road goes. Until our next trip...your travel buddy.
